Cafe Landtmann

Belongs to the most popular classical coffee houses in the Viennese city center. It is located directly at the Ring street next to the Burgtheater and opposite the Rathauspark (city hall park). The big cafe terrace garden is located directly at the place in front of the Burgtheater. Unfortunately you are here also exposed to the traffic noise of the Ring street. In the winter garden and in the interior you can enjoy the excellent quality of the pastries at an exquisite ambience. Particularly the original Viennese apple strudel is widely known. The pricing is according the prime location and quality on a high level. A -Wiener Melange- (coffee with milk foam) costs around 7 Euro.

Cafe Sacher

The very likely most well known cafe in Vienna is located directly across the state opera house. Here you get the originally world wide known Sachertorte directly from the origin. Due to this popularity there are also a lot of visitors. Especially at weekend you should calculate a longer waiting time if you want to have your coffee and pie in the time-honored premises of this classy coffee house. If the premises are not important to you, and you do not want to miss the original Sachertorte you can have it in the Cafe Sacher Eck just a few steps away (corner Philharmonikerstrasse-Kärtnerstrasse). The price for a -Melange- ( coffee with milk foam) and a Sachertorte is about 16 Euro.

Cafe Mozart

The outstanding location, across the opera house and the Albertina museum with a beautiful big cafe terrace, is one of the most significant advantage of this old-established coffee house. At mild temperatures you can enjoy here the original Viennese apple strudel outside and watch the -Fiaker- (horse-drawn carriage) on their route passing by. Also in this cafe you get a very good quality but you have to pay accordingly. The price for a Cappuccino or a Melange coffee is a bit below seven Euro.

Cafe Palmenhaus

If you are longing for a bit of nature after a walk through the city, this is the right place. At good weather conditions you can enjoy the view to the Burggarten park from a spacious terrace. But also the inside offers a special atmosphere. It is located in a huge glass house which was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. Enjoy all of this in an incomparable location between the Viennese opera house and the Hofburg. The offered quality is excellent and the prices are on a moderate level for a coffee in this particular ambiance. You can get a Cappuccino or a Melange coffee already for about 4,80 Euro.

Demel Kaffeehaus

The coffee house of the royal court confectionery bakery is situated together with the sales room in the pedestrian area of the Kohlmarkt, close to the Hofburg. The exquisite sweets are served in an unique originally preserved saloon, which was furnished in rococo style end of the 19th century. Here not only tourists can find high-class but unfortunately also expensive sweet souvenirs. If you value traditional ambience you should not miss this confectionery which was founded more then 200 years ago. Due to the high visitor frequency you should also mind some waiting time, especially at the weekend time. You can choose among a broad offer of high quality pastries. The size of the portions are kept elegant decent. The prices are accordingly on a high level. A coffee with milk costs approximately 7 Euro.

Cafe Central

Another well known classical Viennese coffee house. In front of the entrance you can find a small terrace. The inside of the cafe is more impressive. It is located in the hall of columns of the palace Ferstel. Here you are able to enjoy your coffee with a piece of cake in an unique atmosphere among the columns and below an opulently decorated arched roof. Already end of the 19th century famous guests like Sigmund Freud visited this well known literature cafe. For the different milk coffees like Melange, Cappuccino or Verlängerter you have to calculate around 6,00 Euro.

The family Diglas runs a coffee house since 1923 at this place. It is located at the corner between Wollzeile and Strobelgasse. On mild days you can also have a seat at the terrace along the street in front of the cafe. The interior is dignified and comfortable furnished.
